” Quite an amazing school, especially for students who feel underwhelmed in the TDSB as the GIST offers a more advanced curriculum. Another positive aspect is the small class sizes with an average of 10 students for 2-3 teachers the GIST pays good attention to your personal needs. However, as you reach the older grades the months October, November, April, and May could be quite overwhelming in particularly if you do extracurricular activities that take up a lot of time. Personally, I find most teachers at GIST supportive and easy to talk to although (like at all schools) some teachers can be a little frustrating. Something that GIST offers that most schools don’t, is skipping grades. I found skipping a grade socially easy since people aren’t only friends with their classmates but often also with students form older or younger grades. Overall, GIST is a relatively good school that challenges it’s students to reach their potential, but sometimes, the curriculum can be a little overwhelming. “

” Our children’s experience at the German International School Toronto (GIST) has been nothing short of extraordinary, and they appreciate a multitude of aspects at the school. The language program remains a top favorite, as they eagerly learn English, German, and French, immersing themselves in diverse cultures. Moreover, our kids adore the numerous fun projects and various activities they engage in, both within their own grade and with students from other grades. These collaborative experiences have fostered a strong sense of community and friendship. The fantastic emphasis on STEM subjects has also captivated our children’s interest. The hands-on learning approach in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics has made education exciting and sparked their curiosity. “

” Very good, individualized private school education with a new International Baccalaureate program. Teaching is in German, English and French with small class sizes and expanding. Teachers provide instruction in both the German and Canadian curricula. Older kids often wish for more space to play but school is expanding. Experienced, progressive and accomplished principal starting this year with exciting improvements ahead! “

” GIST is an amazing school. Small classes, 2 teachers and one intern. They focus on each child’s personal development and customize their support to set them up for success. This is really great as some kids speak fluent german, some are learning german or some are learning English, so it’s a real diverse class and each student helps the other by translating and improving. The class has a real “family” feeling as they are all very close friends. It’s been the best decision to send our 8 year old child to GIST, he has tremendously improved in all areas, especially during the pandemic. “

” Excellent private school where your child will learn German, English, and French in a small community of motivated teachers and students (2020: less than 100 students). Lovely setting in a newly renovated church community centre with outdoor play area that also functions as classroom. Highly recommended for German-speaking expat families or if you want your child to learn German. We also love the character-building which is so important in the formative years. Go GIST! “
