” Every parent wants their kids to be happy and successful. You’re reading this review because you are wondering if Polaris can provide your children what you’ve always wanted — a place that can nurture them through their impressionable years, while ensuring they develop foundational skills in communication, cooperation, and compassion. It may sound a little clichéd, but that’s *exactly* what Polaris does. Inspired by Waldorf education, the teachers (and community!) at Polaris create an environment that allow children to discover who they are through learning and growing with their peers. In the early years, children learn through experiential and imaginative play. And let’s be honest, is there a better way to learn your ABC’s than banging on a drum and making loud sounds with your friends? The best anecdote I can share is that when we’d be on our way home from school on a Friday, I could tell the moment my little one realized we’d have to wait two long days before getting to return to the class — it’s where they loved to be. We are very fortunate that a school like this exists in the heart of Ottawa. “
” My son is in grade 4 and his second year at Polaris. I am thrilled to have found a school that honours the unique development of each child and supports children to ground into their bodies. The Waldorf approach is holistic, arts based and values and respects the core of each child. I have seen my son grow in confidence and he is happy with his social connections with friends. My son began learning cursive writing in his class this year and I have seen his writing skills take off. If you are looking for a school where your child can flourish in their own uniqueness and creative expression with an education that is cohesive, alive and celebrates the natural rhythmns of nature, Polaris is it! “
” This school is one of a kind in Ottawa, a gem! My son has been enrolled for grade 7, 6 months and has made so many improvements. But most importantly he’s happier and feels safe and accepted at school. He enjoys the hands on components and outdoors emphasis as well. This is a school that doesn’t rush learning for rushing it sake, but gives students time to enjoy and explore the material. It doesn’t give “outdoor time” as a reward but instead recognizes it as an essential part of childhood development and conducive to learning. I highly recommend this school for everyone. “
” Polaris School is a beautiful environment to nurture your child’s soul and love of learning. My oldest attended the other Waldorf school in Ottawa for 6 years, many years ago when she was still in elementary. Polaris has a lot of the same people involved. Kindergarten has the same Waldorf teach that my oldest daughter’s friends had. A very very loving, empathetic and peaceful soul/woman. My youngest will be going in September and we are all so excited to have our family have that community touch our lives again. “
” Our son did kindergarten for two years at Polaris and is now in grade 1. The kindergarten is an absolutely heartwarming space with a wonderful teacher in Yasmeen. I can honestly say that I couldn’t have imagined something better. The program was a gentle transition into the schooling experience, with much warmth, laughter, and beautiful play. Our son is very active and we were concerned how he would do in grade 1, but it has been great so far. He is excited to go to school, and doing beautiful work. The balance between doing intellectual work and practicing the arts and physical activities is really working for him. He has made a strong connection with his teachers. “
