” Disappointed with My Experience Our experience with JOA has been disappointing. It feels more like a public school with a high price tag, particularly when it comes to handling social issues. Bullying and social isolation are real concerns, and after looking at past reviews, it’s clear we’re not the only ones who have noticed this. While no school is completely free from bullying, you would expect a private institution to take a more proactive and effective approach. Unfortunately, JOA seems to be more reactive than preventative. Many parents may not realize when their own child is participating in social exclusion or bullying, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. I had hoped for a safer, more supportive environment, but based on my experience, I can’t recommend this school to other families. “

” I would honestly give it negative stars and it hurts me to see such a horrible school get such high reviews due to the incompetence of teachers. The school discriminates races unless they have money, my daughter was very mal treated by students in her class including physical assault and the cutting of her hair as well in appropriate comments towards her self as a person and her apperance yet the school clames to prevent bullying with the application of a uniform though now other forms of bullying are being incouraged, another thing I’d like to add would be how snobby and rude and intitled the parents believe they are superior to one another and believe money gives them the right to be rude. “

” Amazing school, a great big family to raise a happy, smart, confidence girl. The class sizes are small and therefore students get lots of attention from their teachers. Our family loves this school and my husband and I are so happy our daughter is a part of JOA family. Everybody is incredibly nice and friendly, all the girls know each other by name and those from upper grades take care of smaller ones. We joined Joan of Arc Academy on September 2019 and we are very happy with our decision. We would highly recommend this school. “

” Our girls joined the Academy in January 2019. As they are both in Kindergarten and being taught entirely in French, their second language capability has immediately and dramatically improved. From day one, they were very warmly welcomed by the entire school. Very quickly, students of all ages knew them by name and helped them feel part of a nurturing community. As well as small class sizes and focused attention, there is a tremendous focus on developing character and confidence. It’s a really special place and we’re thrilled we made the decision to invest in their education ahead of the pressures of adolescence and high school. We had no idea there was an affordable, fully-bilingual private girls’ school in Ottawa. Now we do, we’re in no doubt we made a great choice for our girls. “

” We absolutely love this school! Our daughter started at Joan of Arc Academy in grade 5, just over two years ago, and the whole experience has transformed her in the best of ways. She has blossomed into a confident, happy and creative young woman thanks to the extremely caring teachers and staff. The girls at the school are like one big family and they encourage individuality and are very accepting of differences in others. The academic program is challenging but there is lots of individual attention from the teachers to help the girls succeed. My daughter’s writing skills have improved in ways I could not have imagined possible. She has also gained confidence in public speaking and arts and science presentations, even though before attending the school she was unable to speak in public. As well, the school has a strong emphasis on STEM education and brings scientists into the school to work with the girls. I wish we had been able to send her there right from kindergarten! “
