” Put down a deposit expecting our daughter to attend. However, covid happened, daycares got shut down, and we didn’t feel comfortable sending our child to daycare during the pandemic. Like the other poster, liberty prep refused to refund our deposit regardless of circumstance, continually referencing “policy”. Left a sour taste in our mouths and they truly are money first, everything else second. In the past two years we’ve seen companies put their customers first and their business second in the name of greater good and ethics. Liberty prep is clearly not one of those companies. They can say all they want about their education and programming, but character matters and I wouldn’t want my kid going to a school wherein empathy and integrity aren’t embodied as core values from the top down. 06/13/2022 edit below after the school replied. I’m not sure if you realize how out of touch your response sounds with the current economic and social climate. From other reviews below it looks like you charged another family for a full year even though they had to move – simply because that’s the contract they signed? No wiggle room? And if you’re turning away families because you’re holding a spot, wouldn’t the compassionate, character-driven move by the school be to make an exception to policy, knowing full well that the school would easily be able to fill the spot left from the other family, and refund the annual tuition less the time the child attended? Parents are sophisticated and armed with unlimited informational resources and discussion channels now. As much as their kids are your business, parents are looking to entrust their care into environments that are familial and compassionate – not transactional. Given the abundance of childcare centres in the city, many of which are Montessori, staffed by thousands of qualified, wonderful educators and care-givers, and the stringent conditions to be a licensed business, truly the only thing that’s going to separate one childcare centre from another is how they treat you as a parent/customer. I know the Montessori system doesn’t give out grades because of the belief that they have little lasting effect on efforts or achievements – rather they work to nurture the natural desires to grow and be better – but your “policies” get a failing grade. By your own philosophies, your natural desires to grow and improve have disappeared. Parents, embrace the Montessori principle of Freedom of Movement and Choice. “
” I enrolled my son into the Montessori program excited to see his development progress and had pre-paid for the whole year (nearly $18k with meals). I learned a week into the program I had to relocate for work, and the school indicated that they would not refund anything. I offered to give up my last month deposit and the current month, and that was not enough. Extremely disappointed but expected as they are business first and foremost. “
