Mulberry Waldorf School
” As a former teacher at this school, I learned a lot about this school’s processes and the depth of the commitment to pedagogical excellence. Students learn in a way that balances the needs of their minds and bodies while prioritizing emotional and relational development. I am so pleased that my son is attending the morning garden, I feel confident that he is receiving personalized care and strong foundations for his future schooling. What a gift that this gem is here in Kingston! “
” My two children have been a part of MWS since 2016. I am a 5th-12th grade teacher elsewhere and I can say with certainty that it is a very well run school; the level of professionalism by teachers and staff is unparalleled. And all decisions are made with loving intentionality. I’ve also taught around a dozen high school students who were formerly educated at MWS, and I have been impressed by 100% of them. In them I see a love of learning, a sense of inquiry, self-assurance, hard work and dedication, an artistic eye, an ease in approaching teachers, and the skills to work through social conflict. All have been very successful in high school. And a handful were at the very top of their class, achieving the most coveted and lucrative scholarships at top universities. While there are many school options in Kingston, I choose this school because it provides the well-rounded foundations my children will need for life. As well, the amazing school community is and will be a part of who we all are, for life. “
” Mulberry Waldorf School has been an amazing experience for our children and family. The kids are learning skills that I have never been exposed to as a child and come home with new fascinating knowledge every day while spending so much time outdoors! Can’t recommend enough “
” We’ve had the privilege of being a part of this school community for years, having a child in grade 7 and one in grade 4. We joined to school with curiosity to see if it was the right fit for our family (apprehensive at the beginning as we are a pretty mainstream family), and it absolutely was. As a trained teacher, I was uneasy about the traditional curriculum and lack of resources in the public system. As our years at Mulberry pass, we continue to be more and more impressed. The academic experience is rigorous, rich, and the children engage with the material in a way that ignites a passion for inquiry based learning. Emphasis is placed on a strong community for the children, giving them daily opportunities to work on supporting each other, working through social situations, and developing deep caring friendships. This is not the ‘hippie’ school that many believe it is. It is a forward thinking community of educators who use best practices and science based approaches to engage a child’s whole self. The faculty and staff hold each of the children in a way that honours their unique identity and serves their best interests. Families come with varied backgrounds – military, PhD’s, farmers, educators, entrepreneurs, doctors, carpenters, engineers and lawyers. Some of us make sourdough, and some of us feed our kids goldfish (or both!!), and the most wonderful thing about being part of a community like this is that all choices are respected. I have immense gratitude that my children have the opportunity to spend their days in a place where they are exposed to different cultural celebrations, where they are encouraged to express creativity through different means, where they are celebrated for who they are, and where their minds are being challenged. “
” We are so happy to be part of Mulberry Waldorf School!! We joined last year and we feel very happy in the community. The teachers and all the staff are amazing. We love that the teachers truly work to educate more secure, and happier children and I am able to see that in my own children. They feel that they are seen and loved by the teachers and by all the staff. I love that every day they are learning and experiencing through all their senses. We love that our children feel very happy and that they are able to spend time outdoors, prepare food, make crafts, sing throughout the day, and celebrate nature’s rhythms. “
