” Jouer was an unexpected gift and one that filled my cup in the best possible way! It was an opportunity to meet new people, to play, to laugh, to share wonderful food, to reflect and to connect with nature, myself and others. I left feeling uplifted and am so grateful for having had the experience! “
” Such an amazing experience for our child. I have had trust issues when it comes to leaving my children in the hands of others. But the teachers here have provided so much care and have accommodated our child’s very specific needs so well that I have never felt more at ease with most anybody else with my child. Not only are they attentive to every child’s needs but also very well educated when it comes to child development. You can get a sense of the care and hard work that goes into this school and the children immediately. Additionally, the fact that the children spend a lot of the day outdoors where they’re meant to be is such a wonderful thing. We are so happy to have found this gem of a school for our children. “
” I feel very lucky and blessed to have found Walnut Forest Academy for my son! The teachers are naturals with children through their patience, love and holistic connection. The communication concerning growth and development of their students is truly unmatched. It’s been a breath of fresh air (literally!) to see my child learn, play, and grow in rain, snow, or shine. This program with it’s unique learning opportunities has given him a deeper connection to himself, the world around him, and to others, all while gaining his confidence and sparking his curiosity and imagination that a public school setting could never do. I absolutely love the walnut forest philosophy and can’t imagine a better place for my son! I recommend it for anyone looking for a nature based learning environment with the most kind, creative, and inspired teachers. “
” We are so happy with our child’s experience at Walnut Forest Academy. Meaningful rituals and routines at Walnut Forest work wonderfully for bringing the group together and facilitating transitions – something many children struggle with. I appreciate the attention given to seasonal rhythms in what the children are studying – it really helps to deepen their curiosity and appreciation for the world around them. Communication has been consistent and strong, and I feel like I always have a good sense of what is happening for my child at school. I also REALLY appreciate that the low teacher:student ratio and the attentiveness of the teachers means that social relationships are attended to with much care and consideration. I feel that my child’s social and emotional needs are so well met at Walnut Forest Academy, and she goes there each day feeling confident, happy, and ready to learn. “
” It is a huge privilege to have our youngest child attending Walnut Forest Academy. As a mom of a very large family, I often feel like I struggle to do all the things I did with my older kids, things like going tobogganing and baking cookies and spending hours outside. We are a homeschooling family and because this particular child was a toddler at the start of the pandemic, we also noticed he had a lack of good relationships with peers. And, then Walnut Forest Academy opened near our home and I knew from the minute I read their philosophy that this was what I wanted for our son. At Walnut Forest, our son has: – formed many good friendships – been given extensive emotional language to help him express himself, empathize with others and thrive in relationships – spent HOURS being active in nature each day – gone on a field trip monthly, which is often integrated into curricular learning – learned a variety of subjects in a holistic way (for example, after visiting an apple farm, the children made apple sauce together, integrating mathematics) – had the benefit of truly loving, knowledgeable and involved teachers, who, due to the very small class size, know each and every child very well – come home every single day looking forward to the next This beautiful school has been a true gift to our family. It is a place where childhood is cherished and a love of learning is preserved. If I could have designed a school to be everything I would ever want for my child, it would look exactly like Walnut Forest Academy. “
