” Really enjoying the experience “

” Students from this institution entered the Chabad Yeshiva next door after everyone left, grabbed the prominent picture of the Rebbe hanging there and tossed it in the dumpster back in their own backyard. An institution which purports to be a Makom Torah and nurtures its students to act in such a horrendous non-Torah manner should take an extremely hard look in the mirror and reevaluate its choices etc. As the way it’s curriculum/faculty are currently structured is obviously untenable. I’m linking the following Mishna from Perek Gimmul of Pirkei Avos to perhaps use as a beginning of a blueprint on how to recreate a Yeshiva befitting the Ehrliche Yidden who lovingly send their children here with the hope and prayer that they follow the path which they and their ancestors painstakingly carved for them. Rabbi Eleazar ben Azaria says, if there is no Torah, there is no way of the land. If there is no way of the land, there is no Torah. If there is no wisdom, there is no fear. If there is no fear, there is no wisdom. If there is no understanding, there is no knowledge. If there is no knowledge, there is no understanding. If there is no flour, there is no Torah. If there is no Torah, there is no flour. He used to say, everyone whose wisdom is greater than his deeds, what is he like, to a ram whose branches are many and whose roots are few, and the wind came and uprooted him and turned him into a His face, as it was said (Jeremiah 17) and he was like a camel in the desert and he did not see that a good person would come and dwell in the desert in a salty land and not dwell. But everyone whose actions are greater than his wisdom, what is he like, to a tree whose branches are few and whose roots are many, that even all the spirits that come in the world come and dwell in it There is no moving it from its place, as it was said (there) and it was like a tree planted on water and on a brook, it will send out its roots and will not see that heat will come, and there will be a spring on it, And in the year of famine he shall not fish, nor shall he do fruitive deeds: Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah said: Where there is no Torah, there is no right conduct; where there is no right conduct, there is no Torah. Where there is no wisdom, there is no fear of God; where there is no fear of God, there is no wisdom. Where there is no understanding, there is no knowledge; where there is no knowledge, there is no understanding. Where there is no bread, there is no Torah; where there is no Torah, there is no bread. He used to say: one whose wisdom exceeds his deeds, to what may he be compared? To a tree whose branches are numerous but whose roots are few, so that when the wind comes, it uproots it and overturns it, as it is said, “He shall be like a bush in the desert, which does not sense the coming of good. It is set in the scorched places of the wilderness, in a barren land without inhabitants” (Jeremiah 17:6). But one whose deeds exceed his wisdom, to what may he be compared? To a tree whose branches are few but roots are many, so that even if all the winds in the world come and blow upon it, they cannot move it out of its place, as it is said, “He shall be like a tree planted by waters, sending forth its roots by a stream. It does not feel the coming of heat, its leaves are ever fresh. It has no care in a year of drought; it does not cease to yield fruit” (ibid, 17:8). “

” Yeshiva Nachlas Zvi can only be described as a powerhouse of a high school. A multifaceted institution in every sense of the word, Nachlas Zvi strives to, and invariably succeeds, in imbuing in students the rich Jewish heritage to which they belong. The innovative pedagogical methods implemented by Nachlas Zvi teachers and professors are unrivaled by Jewish high schools across the city. Students attend three sessions a day which are spent studying and analyzing the Talmud on an extremely advanced level. At these times, most students completely immerse themselves in their studies, and needless to say, it does not take very long before these students become masters in every area of the Torah. Astonishingly, this does little to compromise on the school’s advanced and all-encompassing secular education program in which teachers engage with students in advancing scholarly inquiry, cultivating critical and creative thought, and generating knowledge. Despite the remarkably high academic level of the school, the majority of students achieve admirably well and pass through their time at the school with flying colours. In addition, students at Nachlas Zvi thrive socially thanks to the school masterfully being able to procure a balance of spiritedness and excitement and incredibly high academic achievement. Yeshiva Nachlas Zvi produces students who are confident to enter a rapidly-progressing; post-modern; globalized world, by instilling in them critical thinking skills; refusing to compromise on a Jewish, yet increasingly global worldview; and a respect for core Jewish values of honesty, loyalty, perseverance and compassion. “
